Summer League R3 – Liberal at the top

With just one point separating the top three teams an exciting end to the NETTS Summer League is expected in the next fortnight. LIBERAL jumped a point clear of the chasing pack with a win over bottom club NETTS POMPEY. Two excellent wins for Scott Dowsett and one win for debutant Peter Hayden plus the doubles resulted in a 4-1 win. POMPEY’S point came from James Mullane after an excellent five set win over Hayden. The only two players with a 100% record met in the TOLLESHUNT v NETTS ARGYLE game and it was Alex Abbott who overcame a below par Paul Davison in three straight sets. Gary Cattermole and Davison however won a singles match each and the doubles to win the match 3-2. In the third match IPSWICH kept their title ambitions alive with a narrow 3-2 victory over NETTS BOTTOM. Andy Holmes was once again the star with wins in both his singles and doubles.
